The spectacular panoramic views of the Central and Northern Berg incorporating both the Amphitheatre and Royal Natal National Park, as well as the vast spaces, wild horses and superb walks where one may come across Cape Eland and other game species, make our country houses the perfect base to explore the grandeur of this beautiful region in the mighty Northern Drakensberg. The deep silence makes our accommodation a peaceful place to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries.

Whether individual travellers, couples, families or groups, we have the have the ideal accommodation for you, with the option of fully-catered or self-catering. Our Drakensberg Mountain Retreat is a haven for those who like old-fashioned, relaxing holidays with excellent home-style cooking, reading, playing cards/board games, etc. and creating wonderful memories with family and friends. 

Choose between two country houses. Our comfortably furnished and upmarket Vergezient Lodge blends rustic charm with old-fashioned elegance and offers in spacious style 10 tastefully decorated en-suite guest rooms, with double and family-sized accommodation on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Some bedrooms incorporate a lounge, with or without a fireplace. 

There is also a fully-stocked bar and we gladly prepare lunch on request. The lounge-dining-room and enclosed veranda provide comfortable and generous spaces. Prepared with care and served by our friendly staff, the delicious home-cooked meals are an important part of your stay at Drakensberg Mountain Retreat; especially the 3-course set menu candlelit dinners are much loved by our guests. 

And there is The Barnhouse which offers exclusive use accommodation for groups and is the perfect venue for a company break away, conference, retreat or getting the whole family together for some quality time. With self-catering available in the well-equipped kitchen, you have the freedom to cook whatever and whenever you choose to.
