Blowing Bubbles

Blowing Bubbles Diving

We provide a fantastic diving experience in Mozambique, as well as other outdoor activities such as snorkelling and hiking. At our expert on-site dive center Blowing Bubbles Diving, choose from relaxing diving, diving classes, or something unique like underwater photography and shark diving, or relax in our resort accommodation

If you want to start scuba diving or continue your diving education while you're with us, we have an instructor on hand. We also collaborate with a number of diving schools in South Africa and Maputo, so please inquire if you'd like to finish your dive course before coming to us and require us to connect you with a dive school or instructor.

Some of Our Outings

Due to its remarkable high wall topography, the 3 Sisters is one of the most popular diving destinations. Angler fish, Garden Eels, Crocodile fish, Egg shell shrimps, and a giant resident Honeycomb Eel, as well as many various varieties of Nudibranchs, make this an excellent place for all types of photography.

The Anchor is a spectacular ledge with Trumpet fish, Royal angelfish (exclusive to this site), and the odd sighting of the local Grey reef shark, as well as an abundance of anenomes.

For the more experienced diver, the Atlantis dive brings you to a reef. For its large symmetrical rectangular blocks, it's also known as Lego Land. Black coral, green coral tree, Spanish dancers, Sea Apples, and, of course, sharks of various varieties such as the Tiger, Hammerhead, and Bull sharks, to name a few.

The Blacks dive takes you to a Macro Photography-friendly cleaning station. Black Cheek eels, Pipe fish, and Leaf fish abound in this area.

Because of its depth and variety of juvenile and adult fish species, the Crèche is a great first-time sea diver's delight. It is well-known for its large Stone fish. Fantastic reef for photography.

Doodles is a world-famous dive location known for its abundance of friendly Potato Bass, which provide the diver with a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with them. Manta rays, game fish, at least eight different species of rays, Ghost Pipe fish, Angler fish, and Devil Fire fish all call this place home. The abundant shoals of Snapper and Dusky Sweepers are a highlight. This is a dive site that you must include to your logbook.

The natural beauty of soft and hard corals and sponges, as well as the vibrant turtle life and geometry of gulleys and ledges, make the Drop Zone a must-see.

The Pinnacles is a world-famous shark diving location. Up to 9 shark species can be seen while diving with wild sharks - no baited diving)! Tiger, Bull, Blacktip, Silvertip, Dusky, Spinners, Java, Leopard, Grey Reef, and the lovely Hammerheads. On every dive, divers report seeing five different shark species. This spot is world class, with resident potato bass, Eagle and Devil Rays, and an abundance of game fish. It is a definite must for your log book.

The Steps is a fantastic drift dive on a 1.5-kilometer-long reef with an incredible diversity of caverns, ledges, and fish species. A photographer's dream come true.

Cairnbrogie MTB & Trail Park

Cairnbrogie MTB & Trail Park

Covering over 100 ha of coastal fynbos along South Africa's spectacular Garden Route, Cairnbrogie MTB & Trail Park is a natural playground for the fitness fanatic, mountain bike junkie or even a family looking for some time in the great outdoors. Cairnbrogie has it all, from forests to coastal cliffs and secret coves, tracks and trails, sporting events and a great venue as well as a cafe and even a dairy.

Here you've got way more than just a farm - This is a destination.

Our Activities

Cairnbrogie is blessed with a large area in which to develop MTB (mountainbiking) trails. Our aim is to provide intermediate skill riding for young riders. The learning of basic bike control skills will be a focus of the trails. Older more experienced riders can enjoy remarkable scenery on their way to the well know SANPARKS and Cape Pine MTB trails. Our kid friendly routes are the 1.3 km, a 2.6 km and a 4 km. The 11 km is not so kid friendly as it is long, but not difficult. It passes through some of the most spectacular scenery on the Garden Route.

Pump tracks are extremely popular among a multitude of riders and at Cairnbrogie we offer children and older riders a safe environment to be active on. The tracks feature a series of bumps/rollers that allow riders to use their momentum in order to gain speed and carry momentum. It is great fun so bring your bike, scooters, push bikes etc. and join us at the Cairnbrogie Pump Track.

With over 18km of walking trails within the Robberg Coastal Corridor plus exclusive access to the Cairnbrogie beaches, the Cairnbrogie estate has stunning routes for all fitness levels.

Bring your rods and at your own speed while away the day fishing for bass in the idyllic dam on the edge of the Cairnbrogie pine forest. Catch and release only.

There are also 4 dog walking routes of varying distances for you and your furry best friends to wander in peace and quiet. We absolutely love dogs but as a working farm and established mountainbiking trail park there are strict regulations in place for dog walkers. Dogs must be on leads at all times and the Coastal Route is an absolute no go area for dog walkers.

Cairnbrogie is a birders paradise and a popular venue for local Garden Route birding clubs. Take a seat at one of our dams or a slow stroll through the forest or fynbos laden coastal paths. Don’t forget to tag us in your posts if you spot something special - We would love to know and add to our growing list of sightings. Should you wish to enter Cairnbrogie out of our regular opening hours for a special sighting, please get in touch with us in order to arrange.

The outdoor activities offered range from horse riding, hiking, birding, swimming, fishing, mountain biking and trail running to tennis and full moon walks. Alternatively relax by doing yoga or enjoying a massage, an hour or two of complete bliss await.

We believe that preservation is an integral part of conservation in the Northern Drakensberg. With this in mind, over the last 10 years invasive wattle trees have been eradicated from Montusi and the area rehabilitated by planting indigenous trees. This effort has culminated in the indigenous forests, and resultant indigenous birdlife, flourishing. Additionally, this has seen the return of mountain reedbuck, Vaal rhebuck, bushbuck and the elusive eland that have begun to populate this area once inhabited by the cultural group of the San.

Conservation Based Tourism

In cooperation with the Qolweni Community Development Trust the emphasis of all our operations is placed on conservation through community development, education and research. St Francis Hiking

St Francis Hiking

Experience the natural beauty of Cape St Francis and the surrounding area via stunning reserves and coastal walks. Cape St Francis is home to no less than five beautiful nature reserves - Cape St Francis, Seal Point, Seal Bay and St Francis Field as well as Irma Booysen Flora Reserve. These reserves offer a wide variety of walks suitable for all levels of fitness and experience. These walks, hikes and trails take you through natural coastal lands filled with indigenous plant and wild life.

Chocka Trail

Experience the area with the 4 day/3 night Chokka Trail. Three picturesque fishing villages, a rugged coastline, sand dunes as far as the eye can see, a tidal river, protected fynbos, wetlands and a visit to South Africa’s only privately owned working harbour.

These are the ingredients that make up the Chokka Trail, a slack packing trail between Oyster Bay, St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis. This is the best possible opportunity to see and experience just how beautiful the area is - on foot, at your own pace and with overnight accommodation at guesthouses and the Cape St Francis Resort

Fauna & Flora

South Africa is extraordinarily rich in plant and animal life and scientists have classified the different kinds of vegetation across the land. The southwestern Cape region is especially blessed in plant species, so much so that it is recognized as one of only six Plant or Floral Kingdoms in the world. Known as the Cape Floral Kingdom, it extends roughly from Gqeberha (previously Port Elizabeth) to Cape Town and inland, covering about 90,000 km2 and is home to 9,000 plant species, 70 per cent of which grow nowhere else in the world (i.e. endemic to the Cape).

Our local vegetation type is the St Francis Fynbos/Thicket Mosaic which only grows on the lime-rich coastal sandy sites scattered between Tsitisikamma in the West and Gqeberha in the East. The conditions under which this vegetation type can grow is a relatively small area comprising 0.2 per cent of the Cape region in which botanists from all over the world have discovered new endemic species of plant life.

Look out for bushbuck, grysbok, common duiker, bushpig, porcupine, vervet monkey, caracal, mongoose and otters. You can sometimes see the rare African black oystercatcher and occasionally an endangered Jackass penguin. Bottlenose and common dolphins are often seen offshore and, from August to December, southern right whales may be spotted in the Indian Ocean.
