Only about 100 kilometers from Cape Town close to the village Villiersdorp in the breathtaking beautiful valley Bossieveld lies Pendennis Farm. It was established in 1875 and the Cape Dutch farmhouse was built shortly afterwards. The name Pendennis is unique for this part of the world, as it’s the only English farm name you will find in the area. The reason for this being that the title deed was granted during the British governance of the Cape in 1855. It is a reference to Pendennis Castle in Cornwall - a fort from the 16th century to defend the coast.
Today on 42 hectares grapes (Pinotage, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), apples and olives are grown. Sheep, cows, ostriches, and horses spend their days happily grazing in a picturesque setting.

If you would like to celebrate your wedding, a birthday party or any other festivities, we even have the perfect event venue for you.
Built from local rock in 1896 to house Schutztruppe (German colonial forces), it was converted into a hotel in the roaring twenties, and became the pivotal place of activities as the town of Seeheim prospered and grew.
During the 40s and 50s Seeheim was larger and of greater prominence than Keetmanshoop, which is situated 45 km northeast of Seeheim. It had a railway station, several churches and shops, a school, three hotels and a flourishing residential area. Then in the late fifties, the town gradually fell into decline. The school closed down and the residents began to leave. During 1974 the B2 highway was re-directed and the Seeheim Hotel finally shut shop.
After standing empty for 30 years, Zirkie Kloppers renovated the building and brought it back to life. The handmade furniture, the curtains and other fittings as well as the new outbuildings for additional accommodation have been styled to suite the turn-of-the-century architecture and atmosphere of the original stone building.
For visitors interested in the historical aspects of the surrounding, there are ruins to explore. Future plans include the restoration of two historical railway dwellings to accommodate groups and families, and the development of camping facilities.
More activities in the area include hiking and game viewing, for example Oryx which roam freely on our grounds.

Our innovative new and seasonally changing menu is largely influenced by the slow food movement, fresh, local seasonal ingredients and respect for the origin of foodstuff.
The Bent Arm Bar is a country pub and open daily for refreshments comprising local beers and ciders, a wide selection of wines and spirits as well as an interesting collection of malt whiskeys, aged brandies and some crafty gins too.
We also cater for special functions and events and do package deals for groups or clubs, especially cycle teams, mountain bikers and motor bike enthusiasts. We are open for business and look forward to hosting you for a quick coffee or a sit down meal as you pass by. If you’re not heading somewhere in a hurry, relax, chill and unwind in our garden.
