The Afrikaans Language Monument is situated on Paarl Mountain, whilst the language museum has been established in the former home of Gideon Malherbe, a founder member of the Society of True Afrikaners (GRA).
The purpose of the monument and museum was originally to pay tribute to the people that played such an important role in the process of getting Afrikaans recognized as an official language. Afrikaans is presented as a living language on these historic premises. Come visit our heritage museum and take advantage of our guided tours. We also offer a coffee & curio shop, picnic venue, function and wedding venue, full-moon & stargazing picnics, walking trails and interactive exhibitions. Our vision is that Afrikaans will be respected and appreciated in its full capacity.
