We provide a fantastic diving experience in Mozambique, as well as other outdoor activities such as snorkelling and hiking. At our expert on-site dive center Blowing Bubbles Diving, choose from relaxing diving, diving classes, or something unique like underwater photography and shark diving, or relax in our resort accommodation. 

If you want to start scuba diving or continue your diving education while you're with us, we have an instructor on hand. We also collaborate with a number of diving schools in South Africa and Maputo, so please inquire if you'd like to finish your dive course before coming to us and require us to connect you with a dive school or instructor. 

Some of Our Outings 

Due to its remarkable high wall topography, the 3 Sisters is one of the most popular diving destinations. Angler fish, Garden Eels, Crocodile fish, Egg shell shrimps, and a giant resident Honeycomb Eel, as well as many various varieties of Nudibranchs, make this an excellent place for all types of photography. 

The Anchor is a spectacular ledge with Trumpet fish, Royal angelfish (exclusive to this site), and the odd sighting of the local Grey reef shark, as well as an abundance of anenomes. 

For the more experienced diver, the Atlantis dive brings you to a reef. For its large symmetrical rectangular blocks, it's also known as Lego Land. Black coral, green coral tree, Spanish dancers, Sea Apples, and, of course, sharks of various varieties such as the Tiger, Hammerhead, and Bull sharks, to name a few. 

The Blacks dive takes you to a Macro Photography-friendly cleaning station. Black Cheek eels, Pipe fish, and Leaf fish abound in this area. 

Because of its depth and variety of juvenile and adult fish species, the Crèche is a great first-time sea diver's delight. It is well-known for its large Stone fish. Fantastic reef for photography. 

Doodles is a world-famous dive location known for its abundance of friendly Potato Bass, which provide the diver with a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with them. Manta rays, game fish, at least eight different species of rays, Ghost Pipe fish, Angler fish, and Devil Fire fish all call this place home. The abundant shoals of Snapper and Dusky Sweepers are a highlight. This is a dive site that you must include to your logbook. 

The natural beauty of soft and hard corals and sponges, as well as the vibrant turtle life and geometry of gulleys and ledges, make the Drop Zone a must-see. 

The Pinnacles is a world-famous shark diving location. Up to 9 shark species can be seen while diving with wild sharks - no baited diving)! Tiger, Bull, Blacktip, Silvertip, Dusky, Spinners, Java, Leopard, Grey Reef, and the lovely Hammerheads. On every dive, divers report seeing five different shark species. This spot is world class, with resident potato bass, Eagle and Devil Rays, and an abundance of game fish. It is a definite must for your log book. 

The Steps is a fantastic drift dive on a 1.5-kilometer-long reef with an incredible diversity of caverns, ledges, and fish species. A photographer's dream come true.

Shark Cage Diving KZN

Situated in Park Rynie, 63km southwest of Durban, Shark Cage Diving KZN are your pioneers and experts in shark cage diving, shark diving trips and shark viewing at Aliwal Shoal, South Africa. They also do great white shark cage diving in Gaansbaai, Cape Town.

The Dive 

Shark cage diving typically involves diving in heavy metal cages in the cold waters of Gaansbaai in Cape Town, specifically targeting the large Great White Sharks that inhabit that region.

However in the warmer waters of Durban’s Aliwal Shoal, different species of shark can be found on our cage dive like Blacktip sharks, Dusky Sharks, Spinner Sharks, Tiger and Zambezi Sharks. Because these species are smaller than the Great White Shark and their main diet consists of small schooling fish.

Our 4-man stainless steel shark cages are SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) approved, designed by an engineer for diver and animal safety. The cage is a concertina, which opens up to width 2.3 m and height 2.4m and breadth of 1m. Our shark diving cages are secured to the boat at all times in accordance with SAMSA requirements.

White Shark Africa 

Experience shark cage diving in Mossel Bay with White Shark Africa as well as boat based shark viewing, marine conservation programs and shark research or a shark internship. Founded in 1995, White Shark Africa offers some of the best White Shark diving in the world with a mouthful of adrenaline and the predominant dive spot at Shark Island which is home to a seal colony.

Our Boat 

Our Boat, “Shark Warrior” is a modern motor cat custom built for shark cage diving which has a large viewing platform on top, space on the main deck for seating and viewing as well as toilet facilities in the main cabin. 

As the only White Shark operation along South Africa's Garden Route, we’re afforded the advantage of seals being our only competition for the shark’s attention. Historically, we have an 84 per cent annual average rate of successful shark viewing and diving. 

As an added bonus in season, from June to November, you might even spot whales. Schools of up to 500 dolphins make a spectacular sight as well and can often be seen at play in the bay. 

Internship & Shark Film Making 

The company is co-owned by Craig Ferreira and Christo Kruger. Craig is one of the world’s leading authorities on Great White Sharks, has conducted many research world firsts, has appeared in numerous documentaries, has published two books and speaks about this species around the world. Craig, along with his father Theo, pioneered most of the early research work on White Sharks in South Africa. Through this important work, Theo, together with Scientist Leonard Campagno, were instrumental and the driving force behind South Africa becoming the first country in the world to secure full protection status for the Great White Shark in 1991. 

We offer monthly internships and volunteer projects. Christo is a top shark handler, an avid marine conservationist, a very experienced skipper and he spearheads the operation in Mossel Bay. The team of White Shark Africa and Sharkslive consist of some of the worlds top shark scientists, wranglers, film-makers and conservationists. Join our team as a production intern on the Sharkslive production crew to immerse yourselves in bringing the Sharkslive daily production to life. The Dive 

We have been operating Shark Cage Diving Gansbaai Eco-tours in Cape Town for over 20 years with a 100-per-cent safety record. The shark cage dive takes place out at Dyer Island, roughly 15 minutes by boat from Gansbaai. The island is home to a colony of over 50 000 Cape Fur Seals – the white shark’s favourite food and primary source of nutrition. Running between Dyer and neighbouring Geyser Rock is a channel of ocean so frequented by great white sharks that it has been dubbed "Shark Alley". The sharks move between Shark Alley and Die Dam and our boat anchors in these areas for up-close encounters with great whites. 

The cage is dropped at the diving site and you will be allocated your diving gear. Participants take consecutive turns in the eight-man floating cage to experience thrilling underwater views of this majestic apex predator. When not in the cage, you or non-diving passengers can enjoy sightings of the white sharks and other sea life, such as seasonal whales, from the viewing deck of the boat. The great white shark is a surface feeder and thus all the activity takes place on or very close to the surface, so surface viewing from the boat and photographic opportunities are excellent.
