De Hoop Nature Reserve

De Hoop Nature Reserve

De Hoop Nature Reserve lies in the Overberg region of South Africa's Western Cape Province and near Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, as well as a three hours drive from Cape Town.

This versatile nature reserve offers a complete outdoor experience - sea, sand dunes, the vlei (A shallow, minor seasonal lake or a shallow natural pool of water in a low-lying, marshy ground.), a floral sensation of rare Fynbos plants, the Potberg Mountains and diverse wildlife such as Cape mountain zebras, eland, grey rhebok, bontebok, baboon and yellow mongoose. De Hoop is also home to the shy caracal and leopard.

Birders observe wading birds on the shores of the vlei while the mountains are home to endangered Cape vultures. Activities are diverse and guests choose between various day walks through the rich fynbos plains or along the deserted coastline, mountain biking along the many gravel roads and scenic game drives. Watch whales in season on the whale trail which offers an unforgettable experience. With five overnight stops, this unsurpassable hiking route stretches over 55 km, leads through lush Fynbos and offers stunning coastal views.

Lazing on the beach and snorkelling in the many turquoise rock pools is simply another way to pass a rewarding day.

While this diverse nature reserve offers a great choice of accommodation, day visitors are also welcome, and our restaurant is open daily.

Plettenberg Bay Country Club

Plettenberg Bay Country Club

This golf club in Plettenberg Bay has an award winning 18 hole golf course set in a private nature reserve. The highly rated course at Plettenberg Bay Country Club is a very popular tourist destination and easy to walk. The two main inclines can be observed from the veranda. Visitors are welcome.

With over 38 000 rounds played per annum, Plett Country Club is considered a "must play" course on the Garden Route. We invite you to come and experience our award winning golf course which has hosted masters of the sport from around the world!

The entire property is a proclaimed nature reserve – alien tree eradication plus the planting of indigenous trees creates a fine example of eco-sensitive management. This is no little seaside golf course; all greens and bunkers are to USGA specifications. The greens and fairways are on automatic sprinkler systems - The result is a golf course you will remember.

The Parkland Course has no intrusive houses or traffic noise and is populated mainly with indigenous flora and fauna. The natural beauty of the course has been carefully retained. Sightings of monkeys and birds, like the Knysna Loerie and woodpeckers, as well as the occasional deer are more likely to put you off your game.
