Alte Villa Gaestehaus
Welcome to the Alte Villa Guesthouse in Luderitz. Our historical house was built in 1909, during the colonial period by merchants from Hamburg/Germany, and has been lovingly renovated and carefully restored to its previous beauty.
Our Accommodation
All three rooms and the four child-friendly apartments have been individually decorated and have their own particular charm. Free Wi-Fi is available in all the guest rooms. Two apartments offer magnificent sea views, and if you have the desire to cook at home one of our holiday flats even has its own kitchen for self-catering.
At our bed and breakfast we welcome our guests with warm apple pie and a good cup of coffee. The latter, as well as a wide variety of tea, is available throughout the day at the coffee/tea station. Enjoy a continental / Namibian breakfast in our dining area. We trust that you will feel comfortable in our historical boutique guesthouse.
Activities
We offer exclusive kayak tours to two destinations. If the weather permits, we take you out to Halifax Island, where the African Jack-Ass penguins can be observed from the water side. It is believed that Halifax Island is the most northern breeding point on the African Coast for these penguins. En route it is also possible to see the African oyster catchers and Heaviside's dolphins.
Our second option is to paddle through the first and second lagoon where the Luderitz Oysters industry can be observed from close up, and birds like the Flamingo or African Oystercatcher can be seen.
Casa Babi
This is one of the special accommodations in Vilanculos. The boutique guesthouse Casa Babi is located on one of the most beautiful and lively beaches in town and has a real B&B atmosphere.
All of Casa Babi's accommodations provide views of the Bazaruto Archipelago's islands, excellent comfort and spectacular sea views while being only a few steps from the beach. During your stay, our swimming pool, the restaurant, an in-house dive center with kite-surf school, and other activities will add to your comfort and enjoyment here in Mozambique.
Our Accommodation
Large mosquito nets, silent wooden fans, roomy and light bathrooms will contribute to a most enjoyable stay, whether you choose one of the four deluxe sea-view bedrooms or the family cottage for self-catering.
The four luxury rooms in the main building have one of the nicest sea views in Vilanculos. Each room has a private balcony with breathtaking views of the Bazaruto Islands and the spectacular beach life of a traditional African fishing village. For those who want, the king size bed may be divided into two comfortable single beds.
The cottage, located in the back of our lovely garden, offers two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, a fully fitted kitchen and a cozy living area. A nice sea breeze and the sea view can be enjoyed from the balcony. It can sleep up to 5 people comfortably. Our restaurant is open for overnight guests who do not want to cook and offers breakfast as well as a creative, fresh cuisine - an Italian, French, Thai and Mozambican fusion!
Activities
We are the only accommodation in town with an on-site activity center where you can go diving, snorkeling or kite-surfing.
Stand-up paddle boards and kayaks are available for use at Casa Babi (at no cost to Casa Babi guests).
Our chef Zita would be glad to demonstrate how to make some of Mozambique's most famous meals. Allow her to take you to the market to select the ingredients you'll need, as well as demonstrate how to make your own coconut milk and put everything together for a delicious meal (3 to 5 hours).
Massages are available with a masseur / masseuse who will come to your veranda and treat you.
Indigo Safaris
Indigo Safaris offers a wide range of day trips and activities from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Livingstone in Zambia, with helicopter rides, rafting, microlight flights, bungee jumping, canoeing, sedate river cruises, game drives in nearby reserves or in neighbouring Botswana, and transfers.
We can also book a range of hand-picked accommodation options.
About Zimbabwe
The majestic Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean/Zambian border is within easy reach of Chobe National Park, Botswana, by road, has direct flights from Namibia and South Africa, and is a short drive from the excellent Hwange National Park, making it easy to combine destinations in one unforgettable safari itinerary.
The largest sheet of falling water in the world, twice as high as Niagara Falls, and 1,708 metres long, it is the biggest waterfall in the world, and considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The rumble of the falls can be heard from up to 40 kilometres away and the spray, up to about half a kilometre high when the Zambezi River is in full flood, can be seen from a distance of almost 50km.
A guided or unguided tour of the falls on the Zimbabwe side, the longer of the two, takes around two hours. Victoria Falls is an extremely popular destination due to the amazing amount of activities on offer, making it suitable for every type of traveller. Take a helicopter flight or a microlight over the falls for a breath-taking bird's-eye view of Mosi-oa-Tunya - 'The Smoke That Thunders’ or go white-water rafting downstream of the falls for what is considered the best one-day white water rafting in the world. Adrenaline junkies can also gorge swing and bungee jump from Livingstone Bridge.
For a more sedate experience, canoe the tranquil waters of the Zambezi upstream from the falls to see hippos, crocs, and, if you are lucky, a raft of elephants crossing to the islands in the middle, or take a sundowner cruise with a wildlife guide and observe the life on the river banks whilst enjoying nibbles and sipping a G&T. For more olfactive delights, High Tea at Victoria Falls Hotel, the oldest hotel in the country and a colonial classic, is a must, as is dinner at Jungle Junction. You can browse the outdoor craft market, have dinner on the rails on board the Bushtracks Express, or look for rhinos in a game reserve a few kilometres outside town.
We work with a range of guest houses and hotels in Victoria Falls town, all well-located for those wishing to have an action-packed stay.
The Zambezi National Park is a 45-minutes drive away and offers some great wildlife encounters with four of the "Big Five" (no rhinos), and a good variety of plains game. It is also home to a few sublime lodges and tented camps on the sandy river bank or an island. Thus, if you are not fussed about doing lots of activities from town, you can stay up in the national park, enjoy the wildlife, some canoeing, fishing, or river cruising, and then pop into town to see the falls for half a day.

We offer reptile adventures like you have not experienced before. After enjoying our croc pond tour and snake exhibit, spend the rest of the day enjoying our tranquil catch-and-release dam, and scrumptious wood-fired pizzas while your children can get energetic in the spacious play area.
Our Activities
With our crocodile tours our expert guide will show you around a captive-bred bask of more than 150 crocodiles, ranging from hatchlings and youngsters to adults. You’ll walk on ramp ways spanning four large dams, all the while learning more about Africa’s largest reptile. You might even get a chance to view these fascinating predators in their underwater environment from our viewing cabin. With 10 daily crocodile tours, no bookings are required.
Our indoor, self-guided "Snakes in Transit" snake exhibition features an impressive collection of local and foreign snakes which are housed in roomy enclosures fronted with safety glass. The clearly-signposted snake exhibition includes loads of information about our scaled brethren. On Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays (at 12h10) our experienced snake handler puts on an interactive snake showcase where you’ll learn to appreciate these oft-misunderstood creatures. A touch opportunity with an ambassador snake is available under supervision of our well trained guide.
Take things to the next level with our crocodile cage diving experience by sharing a pond with Africa’s top apex predator, the Nile crocodile. Facilitated by experienced guides, crocodile cage diving is a thrilling close encounter that includes a safety briefing. No diving equipment needed. This takes place in our new, sturdy and spacious cage that is surrounded by water on all sides. Spend around 20 minutes in the crocs’ watery habitat and get to observe how these ambush predators behave in their element. The crocodile cage diving experience is both underwater and at surface level. Rent a cellphone pouch from us and capture this once in a lifetime opportunity.
On Le Bonheur animal’s free choice is paramount and all our reptile experiences are PAPA approved.
Our great wide, tranquil dam is stocked with bass and tilapia (but no crocodiles!) and great for bass fishing. Cast a line from one of several jetties or take a jaunt in our rowboat. Fringed by willows and set against a spectacular mountain backdrop, the dam is popular among experienced anglers and novices alike. This is bass fishing with a view! We can also arrange an in-depth lesson with a professional fishing guide. If fishing is not your thing we also offer Stand Up Paddling (SUP - ages 15 and up) and row boating for all ages.
With real crocodiles, pizzas and play areas galore - not to mention loads of fresh air - our premises are ideal for kids parties with four different venues to choose from (both outdoors and indoors). You can decide whether you’d like to cater for yourself or if we should do it. We also offer exciting school outings which are a result of our passion to foster an awareness and appreciation of reptiles among South Africans.
