Day 1: Arrive in Windhoek
The journey begins with the arrival at Windhoek International Airport and the collection of the rental car (4x4 pick-up with roof tents and camping equipment), the purchase of food supplies and a short drive to the campsite in the vicinity of Windhoek . There we will set up our first camp, inspect the camping equipment and examine the vehicles for off-road use. A cozy barbecue in the evening gives us the opportunity to get to know all participants better and to discuss the travel route.

Day 2: Namib Desert
Well rested we discusse the last questions at breakfast, pack the cars and head southwest, on the gravel roads typical of Namibia, across the desert, to Sesrim, where we spend our second night. Here we can do a short hike through the Sesrim Canyon and enjoy the sunset in the Namib.
Sossus Oasis Camping |
Day 3: Sossusvlei
Today Sossusvlei is on the program for sunrise. The yellow-red dunes of the Namib Desert offer a wonder of colors against the blue sky at sunrise and guarantee unique photo opportunities. Breakfast in the Vlei - the end of a rocky river that is surrounded by the dunes of the Namib. A hike up the 300 meter high dunes and / or in the Deadvlei (named after the many dead tree skeletons) gives us an idea of the extent of the desert.

Day 4: Swakopmund
On our drive to Swakopmund we cross the Kuiseb Canyon and out of the loneliness of the Namib we reach the port town of Walvis Bay, which is home to a large number of flamingos and pelicans in its lagoon-like bay. Then a short drive along the Atlantic coast to Swakopmund, a small coastal town from German colonial times.

Day 5: Swakopmund
Swakopmund has a moving charm and appears like a "Fata Morgana" from the surrounding desert. The city is known for its German buildings with the typical architecture of the turn of the century, a pier in the cold Atlantic and delicacies that pamper the palate in the many restaurants and pastry shops.

From the Spitzkoppe to the Brandberg. Look out for the desert elephants in the Ugab river bed, look for refreshment by the swimming pool and a cozy evening by the campfire.

Day 8: Damaraland
A short drive brings us to the starting point of our hike to one of the most famous rock carvings in Namibia - "The White Lady" in the Brandberg massif. From there, the journey continues deep into Damaraland where we keep an eye out for the desert elephants.

Day 9: Vingerklip
After a short drive through the dry stone desert of Damaraland, we visit the Twyfelfontein rock engravings that are thousands of years old, the equally old desert plants "Welwitschia mirabilis" and the fossilized primeval forest. Then on to the Vingerklip - a rock finger that protrudes over 30 meters into the sky and then a relaxed afternoon at the swimming pool of the exclusive lodge where we are spoiled with a delicious dinner.

Day 10: Etosha National Park
The Etosha National Park is one of the most important wildlife and nature reserves in Africa and was founded by the German governor von Lindequist in 1907. The heart of the park is the Etosha Pan (Etosha = “place of dry water”), an extensive, flat plain of more than 5,000 km². This large, white plain in the shimmering heat with its large herds of African game makes a visit to the Etosha a unique safari experience.
