Our Accommodation

Towering boulders form the backdrop to the mountain facing chalets with views that incorporate the rugged landscape.

10 African inspired private chalets made up of 20 rooms provide comfortable accommodation that optimises the unique setting. Large windows frame the rocky outcrops and bush Savannah with its incredible display of endemic trees such as the Purple-Pod Terminalia. Sleep with your curtains open and wake up to see the pink and blue hues of the African morning sky colour the landscape.

Each air-conditioned room has a small lounge with a tea and coffee station and an electronic safe for valuables. The big bathrooms comprise of a walk-in shower and separate toilet. A small shaded verandah with a table and chairs provide the perfect spot to relax, listen to the bird calls and be at one with nature.

Airport Game Lodge started operating in 1995 with four rooms on a 3 hectare plot of agricultural land which is today a 9.9 hectare estate with 27 guest rooms in 4 categories and an air-conditioned conference venue, situated a mere 10km north of Johannesburg's International Airport - the O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Our Facilities

Relax at our lovely swimming pool area. Braai/Barbecue facilities are also available. We offer a self-catering kitchen and dining room area, in which you may prepare your meals. We provide a small safe in each of the rooms, so that you can relax knowing your belongings are safely locked away.

On our estate the wild is mild and the game is not tame but used to people. Guests can hand feed the animals. Just put the animal feed on your hand and watch how they come towards you. Sit back, relax and enjoy a range of different birds which visit our establishment.

Our friendly and helpful team at the reception is there to assist you with all your requirements.

Bicycle rental is available for those who wish to go out and explore the off-site bicycle trails (additional charges apply).

Our Accommodation

Azulik lodge offers exclusively decorated and contemporary designed tented lodgings with original charming Mozambican architecture. The bungalows have a private viewing platform, with a hammock to make the most of the astonishing views. All rooms are equipped with a queen size bed with a mosquito net, fan, tea and coffee facilities, mineral water, hairdryer, mosquito repellent and the necessary bathroom amenities.

Our lodge is ideally suited for groups of friends, or family of up to eight people who are after a relaxed bush and beach experience and offer extreme privacy for the most discerning guest. Azulik Lodge is an exclusive lodge and you will therefore have the entire lodge to yourselves.

The main building has an open plan lounge, dining and bar area with a balcony overlooking the Bazaruto islands. Activities in the Area

Activities are centred around the beautiful beaches and the wildlife Sanctuary. Beaches are accessed via game viewing vehicle and are ideal for kite surfing (equipment not provided) and swimming. On route to the beach you may encounter wildlife that might inspire you to take in a sundown game drive or bush walk a little later. Snorkel and dive the magnificent colourful reefs in the surrounding area that are home to unique species of small and large sea creatures. Alternatively, island hopping, deep-sea fishing or a dhow excursion can be arranged. For that extra special experience, hop onto a helicopter and view an explosion of turquoise from above.

The neighbouring islands include Bangwe, Magaruque and Linene Island. Cowrie point is renowned for its beautiful shells, balmy waters and dolphins can often be spotted around the area. 2-mile reef offers superb snorkeling and diving opportunities. 6-mile reef is famous with experienced divers where certain times of the year whale sharks can be spotted. Further afar is Benguerra, Bazaruto, Paradise and Pansy Island. A nature conservation fee is charged on most islands, which is not included in the daily rate.

Our Accommodation

Our accommodation (waterhole tents) are perfect for those who enjoy the closeness of the water’s edge. The sundeck on each waterhole tent overlaps the water’s edge and is the ideal spot to relax during your stay with us. Enjoy sundowners on the deck whilst viewing our free-roaming animals in the water and surrounding banks.

The luxury tents are set only a few metres away from the waterhole and provide an elevated view of the surroundings. They also have great views over the whole lodge area and is surrounded by true Karoo fynbos.

The Family units have a spacious main room and a children’s room with a shared en-suite bathroom separating the rooms. These units can accommodate a family of up to 5 people. The family tents provide an elevated view of the surroundings and Swartberg Mountains and is in walking distance of the 5 hectare waterhole. True Karoo fynbos and bushveld surrounds these tents, creating an authentic bushveld experience. One might even be lucky enough to spot wildlife in the distance.

Our Facilities

A residents-only swimming pool with deck chairs is conveniently located near the tents. The pool overlooks our waterhole and great Swartberg Mountains. To avoid disturbing the wildlife, no swimming is allowed in the waterhole. Fresh drinking water and towels are provided at the swimming pool hut.

The Spa @ Buffelsdrift has 3 permanent therapists of which 2 at a time are onsite that are professionally trained to provide the feeling one gets of being in nature with a relaxing and revitalizing treatment. Choose your preferred massage, treatment or facial and be amazed by the view over the waterhole, sounds of wildlife and relaxing soft music in the background.

About the Area

The countryside in the Luangwa Valley is remarkable. The vegetation is characterized by riverine forest which is wonderfully green all year round. The South Luangwa National Park offers spectacular wildlife viewing and is recognized as one of the best parks in Africa to encounter the elusive leopard. Elephants abound and expansive herds of buffalo are often seen. The Luangwa River is home to crocodile and sizeable pods of hippo.

One of the most well-known endemic species in the Luangwa Valley is the Thorneycroft's Giraffe. Their distinctive pattern consists of large, irregular shaped brown to black patches separated by white to yellow bands.

Zambia, especially the Luangwa Valley, is famous for its incredible walking safaris. Here, guests discover the environment on foot, enjoying eyeopening and exciting sightings.

Experts have dubbed the South Luangwa one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons is among the most productive in Africa.

Birders observe wading birds on the shores of the vlei while the Potberg Mountains are home to a colony of endangered Cape vultures. Hikers and cyclists have close-up encounters with bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland, baboons and ostrich. Activities are diverse and guests choose between various day walks through the rich fynbos plains or along the deserted coastline, or mountain biking along the many gravel roads or scenic game drives. You enter your screened, shady terrace through a separate door, which offers you a breathtaking view of the landscape or the starry sky. Our boma venue is perfect for the bridal couple seeking something a little less western. The Boma has an ethnic, intimate African feel to it and can seat up to 70 guests.

Welcome to the jewel of the Otjipatera Mountains. The Etusis Lodge is a small oasis in the heart of our nature reserve. A row of grass-covered buildings built with natural stone from Etusis is your retreat after a long journey or the day's excursions.

The homely Etusis Lodge is situated in a beautiful private game reserve 40 km from Karibib and offers a choice of accommodation ranging from camping and self-catering to private bungalows with half board, some of which are wheelchair-accessible. Relax ​at the pool to the sounds of nature​ or enjoy many activities, e.g. game drives, nature walks or horse riding.

Our Facilities

At the heart of the property is our restaurant and main building with the bar under a camel thorn tree. A sundowner has never tasted better - when you step out onto the terrace, you can enjoy the view of our embankment with the small waterhole, which is frequented by kudus, zebras and baboons. Behind it rises the Etusis marble mountains and the mighty Otjipatera massif.

Our grass roof bungalows are spread around our pool. A wonderful opportunity to cool off, especially during the warm lunchtime. A table tennis table offers further variety. Our small museum with artifacts from Etusis and the surrounding area from nature or history invites you to visit and also serves as a room for conferences.

We have a lot to offer - don't just come for one night but rather stay with us for two, or even better, three nights, giving you the chance to really experience Etusis and pursue various activities. To travel the 17km from the C32 only for one night in our - admittedly very beautiful - bungalows would be a shame.

The Area

The 45,000 hectare Canyon Nature Park is a sanctuary for Karoo succulent flora where the Aloe dichotoma, locally known as Kokerboom, stands sentinel and wildlife, including the rare Hartman’s zebra, oryx antelope and ostriches, appear and disappear in the rocky side canyons.

Built in rock hewn from the surrounding hills, a magnificent lodge-under-thatch has been constructed with views of the gorge and the surrounding cliffs and mountain, within earshot of baboon barks echoing down the valley. Enjoy your nights in the luxury suites.

If you choose the Self Catering option, you are welcome to book meals and activities at the lodge.

Forest Creek is a Photographers paradise, with opportunities for getting up close with local fauna and flora. Being far from city lights, our night skies are so clear you will think you can touch the stars!!

There is a private Airstrip 8 km from the farm. We provide transfers from the Airstrip to Forest Creek Lodge.

Marvel at the breath-taking view of the Klip River Valley below while lounging on the deck or cooling down in our infinity pool. The rooms are comfortably appointed. Walls are clad with the ancient lava rock of the area. Explore the landscape, rich in geological and botanical wonders, encounter stunning wildlife and get acquainted with the traditions of the Khoadi/ Hoas people.

The lodge is the ideal midway stopover for visitors travelling between Etosha National Park and Swakopmund, allowing them to experience the true wilderness that is Damaraland.


Perched on the rim of the Etendeka Plateau, Grootberg Lodge offers stunning views of the Klip River Valley, 23km southeast of Palmwag.

The thrill of adventure sets in as soon as you arrive at the lower gate before negotiating the 4x4 route up to the lodge. During your stay you will be immersed in nature and encounter some of the larger inhabitants of this unique landscape. What you can expect to see now, ranges from common antelopes such as kudu, oryx and springbok to the more elusive mammals such as aardwolves, civets and wild cats. If you are lucky you might even encounter some of the big predators, like lions and leopards.

Our Accommodation

Fourteen cosy twin chalets and two-family units, powered with solar energy, are perched along the edge of the Etendeka Plateau and will make you feel at home. They are built from natural materials to blend into the surroundings. Private decks provide stunning views across the Klip River Valley. Each chalet is equipped with a private bathroom, a desk and a coffee and tea station. There are no electrical outlets, but we have a charging station in the main area of the lodge.

Enjoy breakfast on the restaurant's veranda overlooking the pool and on request a massage from one of our certified masseuses.

Adventure

Visit authentic homesteads of the Damara people and experience todays way of life of the Khoadi/ Hoas community with our Damara cultural tour.

A guide assisted by a tracker will take you out into the surrounding conservancy in search of the elusive desert elephants in our desert elephant tracking trip.

Follow the spoors of one of the most elusive and solitary mammals. In an open 4x4 game viewing vehicle your guide and game trackers will take you into Black Rhino territory. We also offer scenic sundowner drives across the Etendeka Plateau for you to marvel at the sunset over the Klip Rivier Valley.

Guided walks on the plateau are offered unless lions are present. Our knowledgeable guide will point out the various shy inhabitants of the Grootberg mopane savanna.

Accompany our guide on an Addo Elephant National Park Safari for the best elephant viewing in the world. Arrange an exhilarating safari, visit one of the near-by Addo ‘Big 5’ private game reserves or simply go for a walk on one of the many trails on our grounds. Afterwards, have a refreshing swim in our pool, or sundowners on the veranda before sitting down to a gourmet dinner by candlelight.
